Drag and drop a PSD or a photo here

Open a .psd with its layers intact, edit it and save it back as PSD, no Photoshop needed. JPG, PNG, HEIC and RAW photos open too.

Your file never leaves this browser

Edit PSD files online, without Photoshop

For when a designer sends you a .psd and you only need to change a line of text or a color, but there is no Photoshop on your computer. Open the PSD with its layers, masks and adjustment layers intact, make the change, then save it back as PSD or export a PNG or JPG. It all runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.

How to edit a PSD file

  1. 1

    Open the PSD

Drag a PSD or PSB file onto the editor, or press "Open File". A photo works too, and "New Document" starts from a blank canvas.

  2. 2

    Edit the layers

Pick the layer in the Layers panel on the right. Menus and shortcuts follow Photoshop, so Ctrl+J duplicates a layer, Ctrl+T resizes it and Ctrl+M opens Curves.

  3. 3

    Save

To keep the layers, use "File › Save As" (Ctrl+Shift+S) and you get a PSD. For a finished picture, pick PNG, JPG, WebP or TIFF under "File › Export". The saved file is a new download and your original stays as it was.

What it can and can't do

What it can do

A PSD or PSB opens with its layers, groups, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles and blend modes in place. You get brushes, selection tools, crop, the pen and shape tools, the type tool, adjustments such as Curves and Levels, filters, and a History panel to step back.

Besides PSD, it opens JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, TIFF and HEIC photos and camera RAW files such as DNG, CR2, NEF and ARW. Photoshop brushes (.abr) and gradients (.grd) load too.

The editor is built on the open-source PhotoCraft (MIT and Apache-2.0, by the ArtCraft team), rebuilt by us with a light theme and the hooks this site needs. Its menus come in twelve languages.

What it can't do yet

It does not have every Photoshop feature. PhotoCraft is still early in development, so some effects in complex PSDs can look slightly different from Photoshop. Reopen important files after saving to check them.

A web app cannot read the fonts installed on your computer. If a type layer uses a font the editor does not have, it is drawn with a similar one.

Very large PSDs use a lot of memory and can make the browser tab give up. Phones are not supported because the screen is too small. Use a browser on a computer or tablet.

Why nothing is uploaded

Your browser downloads the editor itself and opens, edits and saves the file inside it. Client work and unreleased designs never leave your device. Keep the Network tab of your browser's developer tools open while you edit and you can see it for yourself. The editor is cached after the first visit, so it opens faster the next time.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Adobe Photoshop?+

No. It is a separate free editor with no connection to Adobe. The menus and shortcuts follow Photoshop, and it is built on the open-source PhotoCraft. Photoshop is a trademark of Adobe.

Can I open a PSD file without Photoshop?+

Yes. Open this page in your browser and drop the PSD on it. No install and no account.

Can I save my changes as a PSD again?+

Yes. "File › Save As" downloads a PSD with the layers kept.

Can I turn a PSD into a PNG or JPG?+

Pick PNG, JPG, WebP or TIFF under "File › Export". The layers are flattened into one image.

The fonts on a type layer look different.+

A web editor cannot read the fonts on your computer, so when a font used in the PSD is missing it draws the text with a similar one.

Is my file uploaded?+

No. Everything from opening to saving happens in your browser, and the file stays on your device.

Does it work on a phone? Is it free?+

It is free and needs no account. It does not open on phones, because the panels need a bigger screen. Use it in a browser on a computer or tablet. The first visit downloads about 22 MB.
