Choosing resolution and quality

What DPI actually changes

DPI sets how many dots make up an inch. 72 is screen size, 150 is a bit over twice as sharp, and 300 is print quality.

Double the number and you quadruple the pixels. An A4 page at 300 DPI is 2480×3508 pixels, so on a long document expect memory and time to climb steeply.

JPG or PNG

Pages full of text and lines look cleaner as PNG; JPG can smear slightly around sharp edges.

For pages that are mostly photographs, JPG is far smaller and the difference is hard to see. Quality around 85-90% is a comfortable setting.

Common questions

Can I save them all at once?+

Yes. The "Download all" button on the result screen saves every page image in one ZIP file. You can also download single images from the list.

I need a transparent background.+

JPG cannot store transparency, so a white background is filled in. PDF to PNG also saves pages on a white background, so neither tool gives you transparency.

The text looks fuzzy.+

Move up one resolution step. Going from 150 to 200 or 300 sharpens it noticeably.

Is the file uploaded?+

No. Even the page rendering happens in a renderer inside your browser.
